Traditional masterplans focus on general layout and urban planning. For Karle Town Centre UNStudio and BALJON landscape architects developed a more advanced tool: the Urban Branding Manual. Based on analysis, and explaining design intentions and requirements, the Urban Branding Manual is a clear vision and strategy that concentrates on experience and how to translate this experience into reality. The ambitious project covers a site of 25 ha and an extensive mixed-use program of over 1 million m2 floor space.
The plan envisions a sustainable landscape that is linked to the concept of the garden as a place of leisure and relaxation. It takes the historic reputation of Bangalore as a ‘Garden City’ into the 21st century. In bringing forward the qualities of nature in the city, KTC will be an innovative cultural phenomenon.
